I just received word, unconfirmed, of the passing of Steve Kostecke, one of the six founding members of the Underground Literary Alliance. I can't begin to tell you how shocked I am.
Steve was a sharp, affable, yet provocative guy who singlehandedly produced the 5 issues of the ULA's "Slush Pile" journal, as well as several of his own thick, suberb ex-pat zines. He has a ULA novel, "Wasted Angels." He lived in Asia, but recently returned to the US. I got word from his sister that he had ALS and that just before he died he finished his "cinematic" translation of Socrates' "Apology" -- an amazing finale. His family is keeping it available on Amazon.

I'm sorry, King. Sincerely.
Sorry to hear that, Karl. My condolences.
