Harper's Hostage Crisis Update

Still no word has come out of Harper's headquarters at 666 Broadway from captive employees. Not even a video! I thought by now we'd see Lord Lapham in turban and long robes justifying his magazine's crimes against writers; or lead henchman Roger D. Hodge in black hood brandishing a leaky pen if not a knife.

We await evidence that the Harper's staff is NOT held prisoner with hands tied and gags over their mouths, prevented from exercising independent thought and speech.

The world, especially corporate, operates on a cost-benifit analysis, so what exactly is their benefit for even replying? I'm sure they have seen death threats for their slush pile, so it's no surprise they didn't respond. There is simply no reason, other than courtesy.

??? You don't seem to realize that the staffers are human beings, who presumably have a conscience or sense of integrity of some kind. I hope they're not just cost-analysis-calculating robots! If the integrity of their magazine is called into question, then why WOULDN'T they respond? Wouldn't you? (Here you are responding to arguments which don't even concern you. Why do you expect so much less of the folks at Harper's?)

You expect them to drop decent jobs to resppond to accusations from a blog? For one thing it's not thier job, and sense it's short of genocide or a pedophilia ring, there is no conscious to be exercised, expecially with all that is going on from gay persecution to Iraq.

I doubt they are like the Romanovs with the Bolsheviks at the gate, they are aware of the criticisms and simply don't care, they are a multi-million dollar publication and have already proved themselves, a member of the bush family also had property seized under the trading with the enemy act in world war 2, Bush has yet to answer it.

Because I am on break, and don't work for a multi-million dollar corporation. I'm disintrested, it niether bends my knee, or rapes my heart either way. I have my reservations about working for certain companies in the first place, so I cannot say what I would do in thier situation, I'm far too individualistic to work for anyone.
